Maria Rodó de Zárate is a feminist activist and postdoctoral researcher in the Gender and ICT group at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC).
She holds a degree in Political Science from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and a PhD in Geography from the same university. She has also completed a Master’s degree in Women’s Studies at the University of Barcelona and research stays at the City University of New York (USA), Ponta Grossa State University (Brazil) and University College Dublin (Ireland).

Her work focuses on the study of social inequalities from an intersectional, spatial and emotional perspective applied to issues such as the right to the city, gender violence or LGTBIphobia.

She is currently Serra Húnter professor at the University of Barcelona and member of the GREDI research group.

In 2012 she received the Gender, Place and Culture Award in the category of “New and Emerging Scholars”.
She is co-author of Rebels amb causa: manifest juvenil contra el poder adult (Tigre de Paper, 2014) and co-editor of Tierra de nadie. Feminist perspectives on independence (Pol-len edicions, 2018).
